Geetar
After releasing their fine debut EP last year, lo-fi garage pop maestros Geetar are back with their Rohdos Records debut. The recipe of ‘Sandwich’ is as simple as it is effective: garage-style overdriven instruments combined with bubblegum-pop melodies. These are in turn fueled with sophisticated hints of classic songwriting - Yes, we’re talking about Beach Boys, The Beatles, and the rest of those guys.
In Geetar, Terje and Emil write, play, and record everything themselves, but they resist the temptation of adding too many layers as often happens in «studio projects»: ‘Sandwich’ sounds raw, real and cut-to-the-bone, allowing the songs to shine. Despite it’s short duration, the 4 tracks ranges from in-your-face-desperation on ‘Royal Headache’, to something close to melancholy and hopefulness on ‘Peaches and Cream’.
The release of ‘Sandwich’ was celebrated with a gig at the legendary Aaniwalli in Helsinki, Finland, and also a hometown Oslo gig at Last Train with label mates The Pinkertons.
‘Sandwich’ was released via Rohdos Records October 4th, and a new EP is in the making.
